What can I do?

  1. WRITE. Please write to the local council and let them know that the pub must remain as a pub for the good of the village and the surrounding area. We must prevent developers from getting permission for a change-of-use. If you would like some ideas on what to say (including address details) then please click here to download an example letter.
  2. INVEST. If you would like to become a shareholder in The Haseley Pub Co then you can find further details here. A single share will cost £500 and the maximum investment is currently £20,000. You may of course create your own syndicate to purchase 1 or more shares. If you would like to discuss the plan with us, then please see the contact page
  3. PARTICIPATE. Attend our next meeting. Details will be released when dates are confirmed. All ideas and comments are welcome.

AS A REGULAR AT THE PLOUGH I AM MOST ANXIOUS THAT THE PLOUGH REMAINS AS A VILLAGE PUB AND WOULD SUPPORT THIS VENTURE BY PURCHASING ONE SHARE WHICH IS UNFORTUNATELY ALL I CAN AFFORD AS A PENSIONER.I DO HOPE THAT THIS BUY OUT IS SUCCESSFUL. I LIVE IN NEARBYE MILTON COMMON AND FEEL THAT MY VILLAGE AND OTHERS LOCALLY CAN BE LEFT OUT OF THE INFORMATION LOOP WHICH YOU MAY ALREADY BE CORRECTING .
WISHING THIS VENTURE EVERY SUCCESS I`M LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING A PINT OR TWO SOON IF THE CURRENT OWNERS EVER GET A MANAGER IN THERE AGAIN SO IT CAN OPEN.

Although I live in Weybridge, Surrey, I have been visiting The Plough in Gt Haseley for the past 10yrs or more. Having suffered one or two nervous breakdowns, a weekly trip to this village, a couple of hours walk with my dog across the fields, followed by a pint and a meal at The Plough – this has offered me far more than anything bought over the Chemist’s counter. I have also become friendly with many of the local villagers. In short the wekly trips have given me something very important to focus on. So don’t let the developers get a look-in….far too many village pubs have disappeared down that same route.

    All the very best

I can’t pledge or donate a lot, but I know that my father and his friends loved the pub in the 60′s and 70′s, and as a child I visisted my grand mother and the pub in the village in the 70s and 80s. If I can donate just a few pounds and support my dad’s memories, I will. Haseley holds many fond memories for me! Let me know how I can donate a small amount! [Editor: Thank you for your comments. At the moment there is no facility to make donation - but this can be raised for discussion at the Village Hall meeting on Sunday. Perhaps the easiest way to support the pub would be to come and visit again soon]

I have often visited The Plough as a member of the local SOXON Camra when delivering newsletters and have found it a welcoming and friendly pub with well kept beers. From your funds thermometer it looks as though you need about another 80 memebers (at (£500 a head) or fewer if they offer more.
Have you thought of approaching the CAMRA folks for some funding?
    Best of Luck
Editor: Investments are possible up to 5% of the target ie: £20,000.
